The organization raised over $1 million to support students on their pathways to college.
Breakthrough New York honored Sonny Kalsi of BentallGreenOak at its 2023 Gala: Leading the Way on May 2nd. The event raised over $1 million for its educational programs that serve students from 7th grade through college graduation.
Sonny Kalsi is the Co-Chief Executive Officer of BentallGreenOak and has been a longtime supporter of Breakthrough New York. During his remarks, Sonny emphasized the reason that he values education.
“[Education] is a gift that we can give people that can never be taken away from them,” he says. “Education is the great equalizer. If we want to give people a real opportunity, education is the way to get there.”

Breakthrough New York welcomed over 300 guests at Guastavino’s in Manhattan. Funds raised from the benefit will go towards securing enrichment, access, and mentorship resources for its cohort of over 500 students.
