Representatives from RBC, Bank of America, and Citi practiced personal pitches with Breakthrough students and alumni.
Fitch Group hosted a networking event with Breakthrough New York on August 16. The event included volunteers from RBC, Bank of America, and Citi who practiced elevator pitches and networking skills with Breakthrough high school and college students.
This event supported efforts from Fitch Group to encourage more volunteerism among their employees.
“At Fitch, our [corporate social responsibility] program focuses on employee engagement within our communities and mobilizes our people to help equalize access to education and employability,” says Michele Stine, Inclusion & Community Associate. “Partnering with organizations like Breakthrough New York is so important to us. They help to build networks that organically open doors. [These] young adults truly stood out as exceptional talent and it was clear that they have bright futures ahead.”
Groups of volunteers provided feedback to students about their pitches. They then engaged in “speed networking” rounds to meet other volunteers and share their stories.
“It was amazing connecting with people from different firms,” says Tracy, a junior at Cornell University. “I learned about various career paths and gained a lot of great mentors along the way. This event has opened my eyes to the various Breakthrough connections I can leverage in my career.”
