Breakthrough New York is thrilled to welcome Peter Croncota to its Board of Directors. Mr. Croncota is the Director of School and Program Partnerships at KIPP Infinity Charter School.

“It is an honor and privilege to serve on the Board of Directors of Breakthrough New York,” Mr. Croncota says. “Through my work at KIPP, I am very familiar with the critically important work of Breakthrough New York, providing access and opportunity to the most deserving, but financially disadvantaged students. Breakthrough’s support enables these students to fully realize their potential and to thrive in the most selective high schools and colleges in the country. I look forward to having the opportunity to lend my skills and experience to this outstanding organization.”

“From his first meeting, Peter has already proven to be an incredible addition to our Board of Directors,” says Beth Onofry, Executive Director of Breakthrough New York. “He brings first-hand knowledge of the experiences of students and families who are navigating the admissions processes to high schools and programs like ours, and has in fact been a strong partner to Breakthrough for years. This perspective and experience is invaluable as we chart our strategic direction forward and work to strengthen and grow our program to support all of our students on their pathways to and through college graduation.”

“I am very pleased to have Peter join the board,” says David Sherman, Chair of the Board of Directors. “His passion and his strong expertise in the NYC education system will be invaluable as we work together with the staff to expand the scope of this marvelous program over the coming years.”

Peter Croncota joined KIPP in July 2007 as part of the Broad Foundation’s two-year Residency and during that time served as Managing Director of Finance, Human Resources, and Recruiting for KIPP NYC. Prior to his career in education, he worked in finance, most recently as Senior Managing Director at Bear, Sterns, & Co. Inc. Mr. Croncota holds a BS degree from Georgetown University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors and as the Chair of the Board of Regents of Georgetown University.
